Chair Lift For Stairs Guide

Filed under Chair Lift Rentals, Chair Lifts

If you are interested in a stair lift but are not yet ready to purchase one, you can look into the option of stair lift rental.  Although on the surface this may seem like a great idea, rental is not a long term option.  The long term rental is not the best financial endeavor, and not every staircase will be suitable for what the rental companies have to offer.

If there is a temporary medical condition where a lift is needed, stairlift rental is ideal.  If a loved one is going through surgery or recovering from an injury and needs to navigate steps, renting or leasing the lift for however long it is needed will be a tremendous help.   The device can be installed and taken apart when needed, with no costly investments necessary.  Stair lifts rentals are also good for guests who temporarily stay in your home.   When Grandma comes to visit, she will feel at home and not intrusive if she has a way to independently move around the house.  The device can be installed before she comes and neatly taken down and returned when she goes home.

If you are interested in the long term rental of a chair lift for stairs, it is important to realize that you are going to lose out in the long run, as the monthly rental fees will amount to more than the actual cost of the product.  Many companies offer long term payment plans with low monthly interest; even that will end up costing less then long term rental.  If you are renting to save money, it is important to rethink how financially worthwhile it really is.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many rental lifts are available in a strait track only, and if you have a curved staircase, this will not work for you.  If you find a company that offers curved chair lift rentals, keep in mind that it has to fit your staircase well in order to be safe and to function properly.  Stairlift rentals have to be checked by a professional before use to ensure that they work well and that they weren’t damaged by the precious users.

When necessary, rental stairlifts can certainly be helpful and appreciated.  For a temporary situation that arises, they are ideal. For long term use, however, purchasing a new or used stairlift is a wiser option and a better investment in the long run.
